This final piece was written with a few constraints in mind. First, the piece needed to change time signatures. Second, it needed to fit within something that fits the “chiptune” feel. Last, I needed to use some process that we’d not covered in class. In this case, I took the melody line when it was in 4/4 time and reversed it, added a reverb, and then reversed it back. During the 5/4 time, the story in my head is that the person who is the melody is free, their mind clear to sing how they want to sing, to create how they want to create, so the sound is “purer” and without resistance.
